Kemerovo 19-07-2006
We stay the apartment until sometime in the afternoon. No worries. Doug lets me know he will be in Kemerovo later today. When we finally get outside, Nadia starts her Ural to park it in her garage a couple of blocks away. I get to sit in the sidecar. Her garage is a short walk to her parents place so we drop in to say hi. Her father is very nice has just finished making soup. He is apparently really good at that. Off course the table is quickly set for a late lunch. The soup is great. We have a couple of wodka’s too. Nadia’s daughter is also there. She is cute, smart and very polite. Most of the time Antanina sleeps at her grandparent’s place as Nadia has to work. Nadia loves her daughter very much. Doug arrives in Kemerovo. We call for a taxi and go to his location. Nadia offers him to stay at her apartment too as there is an empty bed available in which her daughter sometimes sleeps. Doug prefers not to bother us with his presence, but as there is apparently no cheap hotel in Kemerovo, he does take up the offer. While he takes a shower and shaves, Nadia and I go for a walk in Kemerovo. We meet up with 2 of her friends and have a beer. We invited Doug, but he is feeling tired and wants to get some sleep. When we come home he is already sleeping. It is very warm that night and actually getting sleep is not easy. Before Nadia goes to bed she bakes some small round cookies that actually are more like pancakes. These will be our breakfast in the morning. Nadia told me the name of the food, but I have already forgotten it. Dear Nadia, forgive me, I should have noted it somewhere. In any case they were delicious.
