Вестерло - Владивосток

My trusty Ural Ranger (aka Gear-Up) will be the one doing all the hard work while I drive it from Westerlo, Belgium to Vladivostok, Russia. My progress can be followed via this blog. If posting stops ... well, I'm either back home or some bear had me for lunch. Pictures -> http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e137/dommel5/Vladivostok/

Irbit

I am in Irbit at the moment. I have visited the factory and museum. Just great. The town and factory have most certainly seen better days, but it works. Don't have a lot of time now, so I will keep it short and write some more later.
The engine sputtering and not performing as it should was due to bad carburator synchronisation. I should have checked this sooner. The loose electric connection was a separate problem. My Ural is running perfectly again.
Have some problems with the 'keystone cops'. They came to my hotel room and apparently there is an issue with my registration. Like in the good old 'Wild West' days, I have to leave town and get registered in Tyumen. Not necessary as far as I know, but they only speak Russian and we are just not seing eye to eye on this issue.
Some workers are checking my motorcycle and doing some maintenance: new front tire. They will also have a look at the front shocks since these crappy Bulgarian shocks I bought aren't holding out as long as they should. The springs are still OK I guess. We will see. I also would like an oil change to be done, but this might not be a possibility.

Gotta go now and post some more pictures.
